Ways you can honor Myrtle's memory:
Myrtle Bernice Carrington passed away in the early hours of Friday morning, December 8, 2023, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She was 72 years old.
Born on June 12, 1951, in Los Angeles, Bernice was the cherished daughter of James and Rowena (Embry) Foster. She spent her formative years in Southern California, surrounded by the love of her family.
Twelve years ago, Bernice united in marriage with Tyrone Carrington, a union that brought them great joy. Though Tyrone preceded her in death, their time together was filled with love and shared moments.
Myrtle was a proud graduate of Berkeley High School, class of 1969. After high school, she did print and department store modeling. Mrs. Carrington served her country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Army. After her military service, she served as part of the Stand Down group and fought for the rights of disabled veterans in the San Diego area. Her dedication to service and her bravery during challenging times left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
A decade ago, Myrtle relocated to the Tulsa area, where she embraced a new chapter of her life. She took pride in her Choctaw Native American heritage, a connection to her roots that she carried with her wherever she went.
She is survived by her sister, Rosaline Foster, daughter, Leona Greenlow-Turner, daughter Nathifa Styles, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, James Foster Sr. and Rowena Embry, brother James Foster Jr., and husband, Tyrone Carrington.
As we remember Myrtle Bernice Carrington, let us cherish the moments of love, strength, and resilience she shared with us. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her family and friends find comfort in the memories of a life well-lived.
